WEST HARTFORD RESERVOIR AND RESERVOIR 6

the reservoir area can be enjoyed year 'round West Hartford Reservoir and Reservoir 6 are the sites of MDC's West Hartford and Bloomfield water filtration plants -- five small reservoirs and more than 3,000 acres of some of the most beautiful woodlands and trails in the region.  All are just minutes from downtown Hartford. The West Hartford Reservoir is located on Farmington Avenue. The entrance to Reservoir 6 is located on Route 44. We invite you to enjoy the unique beauty of New England's flora and fauna every season of the year. We ask only that you always show respect for the delicate environment that surrounds you and abide by our posted Rules and Regulations*. A nature lover's paradise
, the area features 3,000 acres of beautiful forestland; there are more than 30 miles of paved and gravel roads for joggers and bicyclists, hiking trails (maps available at West Hartford Reservoir Administration Building, weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.), wheelchair-accessible picnic groves, cross-country skiing and snow shoeing.
West Hartford Reservoir is the site of numerous special events benefiting a variety of non-profit and charitable organizations. If your organization or school is interested in using the grounds, roads or trails at the reservoir for a walkathon, road race, nature walk or some other event compatible with the environment, please call Marcey Munoz at (860) 242-7706, extension 4.

If you want to know more about how the MDC assures the high quality of its drinking water, stop in at the West Hartford Reservoir and ask for a free illustrated brochure on the filtration and water treatment processes used at the West Hartford and Reservoir 6 facilities, or email our Community Affairs staff and ask them to send you a copy. Group tours of the water filtration facilities are also accommodated throughout the year. enjoy the trails on foot or by bicycle

The entrance to the West Hartford Reservoir is located on the north side of Route 4 (Farmington Avenue) in West Hartford, Connecticut, approximately 1½ miles from West Hartford Center (which is easily accessible off Interstate 84, Exit 42). Detailed driving directions and a printable map are available. You can also visit the About.com/Hartford website and take a virtual Autumn tour of the West Hartford Reservoir.

The entrance to Reservoir 6 is located on the north side of Route 44 in West Hartford, approximately one mile from the intersection of Route 44 and Mountain Road in West Hartford. Detailed driving directions and a printable map are also available.
