NEW GAS LINES TO BE INSTALLED AT WEST HARTFORD RESERVOIR

WEST HARTFORD – Crews from the Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) and Connecticut Natural Gas (CNG) this week have begun to install natural gas lines to replace underground fuel oil storage tanks at the West Hartford Water Treatment Facility off Farmington Avenue

The work involves digging a trench 30 inches deep by 1 foot wide. Most of the work will be done to the side of the roads at the facility and is not expected to interfere with visitors to the reservoir property. However, some roads may be blocked temporarily. Also, the public is advised to stay away from the open trench, which will be marked off at the end of the work day.

The trench will be dug in 200- to 300-foot segments, totaling about 5,000 feet. The work will be done before the winter heating season begins
