MDC SOUTH MEADOWS SERVICE CENTER
TO BE TEMPORARILY RELOCATED

HARTFORD -- The Metropolitan District Commission (MDC’s) South Meadows Service Center at 60 Murphy Road will be closed on Thursday, July 19,  while the center moves to temporary quarters during building renovations and expansion.

The Service Center will reopen for business on Friday, July 20, around the corner at the MDC’s Operations facility at 125 Maxim Road in Hartford.  The Service Center  will be housed in trailers at the far end of the parking lot, to the left (east) of the Operations Administration building. For directions, call 860-278-7850, ext. 3647, or visit the MDC web site at www.themdc.com.

Water bill payments will be accepted at the temporary  location, but  a permanent payment drop box will not be available. Business hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

After the 60 Murphy Road facility is renovated, it will become the MDC’s Customer Service Center, putting the billing and call center, meter reading and maintenance, and utility services departments under one roof.  The target for completion is March 2008. The MDC appreciates customers’ patience during the renovation.

The MDC is a nonprofit municipal corporation chartered by the Connecticut General Assembly in 1929. The MDC provides water, sewer and household hazardous waste collection services to its member municipalities: Bloomfield, East Hartford, Hartford, Newington, Rocky Hill, West Hartford, Wethersfield and Windsor. In addition, under a series of special agreements, the District supplies treated water to Glastonbury, the southern portion of South Windsor, the eastern portion of Farmington, East Granby and Unionville.
