DATA ON
MDC RESERVOIR SUPPLY IS AVAILABLE ON WEB SITE
HARTFORD – The Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) has placed information on its web site that will allow customers to keep track of the status of the MDC’s water supply reservoirs.
When internet users visit the MDC web site, www.themdc.com, and click on the Drinking Water tab, they will see a table that lists the billions of gallons in the Barkhamsted and Nepaug reservoirs, how that translates into the percentage of capacity, and how the numbers compare to the previous week. The information will be updated each Monday.
For example, as of Monday, June 28, the reservoirs held a total of 38.87 billion gallons of water, representing 97.62 percent of capacity. That compared to 39.26 billion gallons and 98.61 percent of capacity on June 21.
The web site also includes a wealth of information about the MDC and its services, including tips on how to use water wisely, water rates, how customers can protect their homes from sewer backups, recreation information, and much more.
A non-profit municipal corporation chartered by the Connecticut General Assembly in 1929, the MDC supplies water and sewer services to its eight member municipalities: Bloomfield, East Hartford, Hartford, Newington, Rocky Hill, West Hartford, Wethersfield and Windsor. The MDC also supplies treated water to the Town of Portland and portions of Glastonbury, East Granby, South Windsor and Farmington.
The MDC also operates two hydroelectric facilities and, under contract to the Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority, the waste processing portion of the Mid-Connecticut trash-to-energy project. The MDC is an equal opportunity employer.
