The MDC’s Men’s and Women’s Tapping Teams will be competing at the national competition in Washington, D.C., the week of June 17.
The women’s team, the only one in Connecticut, will face competition from throughout the United States, including the defending champion from Louisville, Ky. In addition, a team from Great Britain will compete. The women’s team, in its second year, finished second in 2000.
The men’s team will face the defending champs from Birmingham, Ala., as well as squads from Hawaii, New Haven (state champions), Virginia, Texas, Vancouver, Canada; South Carolina, Miami and Las Vegas.
The competition is held in conjunction with the American Water Works Association’s annual convention. In the contest, teams work to make the quickest connection to a water pipe.
