MDC TRANSMISSION VALVE IS REPAIRED

EAST HARTFORD – Metropolitan District Commission crews have repaired the 24-inch pressure regulating valve on the Northeast Transmission Main in East Hartford.

The line was back in service at about 1:45 p.m. today. It was shut down earlier today so that a crack in the top flange of the valve could be repaired.

During the shutdown some customers in South Windsor and the northern part of East Hartford may have may have experienced a slight reduction in water pressure.

The 24-inch pressure regulating valve controls the flow of water in the 36-inch Northeast Transmission Main, which carries water from the MDC’s Reservoir 6 Water Treatment Plant. During normal operating conditions, the valve automatically opens and closes to increase or decrease the flow of water as demand warrants.
