MDC to Install Sewer in West Hartford

WEST HARTFORD – A contractor for the Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) will install a new sanitary sewer to serve residents of Long View Road in West Hartford.

The contractor, VMS Construction Co. of Vernon, is scheduled to begin the $181,205 project on May 12. Completion is expected by the end of June.

The new sewer will be approximately 1,020 feet long and serve 16 properties, which currently do not have sanitary sewers.

Work will be performed from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. During construction, traffic may be reduced to one lane.

A non-profit municipal corporation chartered by the Connecticut General Assembly in 1929, the MDC supplies water and sewer services to its eight member municipalities: Bloomfield, East Hartford, Hartford, Newington, Rocky Hill, West Hartford, Wethersfield and Windsor. The MDC supplies treated water to the Town of Portland and portions of Glastonbury, East Granby, South Windsor and Farmington. The MDC owns and operates two three-megawatt hydroelectric power stations, one at the Goodwin Dam in Hartland and one at the Colebrook River Dam in Colebrook.
