HARTFORD WATER POLLUTION CONTROL SHORT
TERM IMPROVEMENTS
![]() The short-term improvements program at the Hartford Water Pollution Control Facility (HWPCF) began in May 1993 and was substantially completed by November 1995. These improvements were designed to increase the capacity of the treatment plant. Some of the major improvements that increased hydraulic capacity through the plant were: § Additional mechanical screens to remove rags, sticks, etc. § Additional grit chamber to remove grit and sand. § Additional primary effluent pump to move plant flow to secondary treatment. § Addition of a final settling tank polymer feed system to help aid in settling during high flows. § Additional final effluent pump, to pump plant flow and wet weather storage basin effluent to the river during high river stages. Also added to the Hartford Water Pollution Control plant to increase capacity included the addition of the wet weather pump, treatment, and storage system.
