The Metropolitan District is offering assistance to its customers for repair of backwater valves that are not operating properly. A backwater valve is a plumbing device designed to automatically shut and prevent sewage from entering internal systems in the event of public sewer flooding or obstruction. If you are experiencing basement flooding, due to sewers backing up during heavy rains, you may qualify for the MDC backwater valve repair program. Please contact the MDC Command Center to learn more about this program at 860-278-7850, then press 1.
