Departments

Clean Water Project
Implements projects to address water quality. These projects range from new sewer and drainage system construction to increased wastewater treatment capacity.

Drinking Water
The MDC provides water service to approximately 400,000 people in eight member towns

Environment, Health & Safety
Maintains the Hazardous Waste Collection Program and the Fats, Oils and Grease Management Program

Human Resources
The Human Resources Department provides a full range of services to approximately 700 employees

Purchasing
The MDC purchases a wide variety of supplies, materials and services. We encourage and welcome Minority Business Enterprises and Women Business Enterprises.


Customer Service 
Information for water customers as well as developers on everything from water & sewer rates, temporary hook up to a fire hydrant and automated meter reading devices.

Engineering & Planning 
Is responsible for the planning and design or review of new or rehabilitated water and sewer projects within the District

Mid-CT Project
In 1984, the MDC entered into an agreement to operate the Mid-Connecticut trash-to-energy project for the Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority

Water Pollution Control
Treatment facilities in Hartford, East Hartford, Rocky Hill and Windsor are responsible for an average daily flow capacity of more than 100 million gallons of sewage
